About
Coen Konings (b. Amsterdam, 1998) is a composer and artist based in The Hague. In his work, he explores how information shapes our relationship with reality. Drawing on physics, mathematics and computing science, he investigates the origins of information and the way it is processed. In doing so, he fosters a deeper appreciation of the subjective experience.
Built on slow development, complex systems, and an extensive use of custom software, his compositions and sound art combine the meditative with the cold and uncomfortable. They invite the listener to slow down, confronting them with their own perception.
Konings earned his degree in Computing Science at the University of Amsterdam in 2023, and is currently in his final year of Composition for Electronic Music at Utrecht University of the Arts. Along with his artistic endeavours, he has professional experience as educator, software developer and system designer.
Konings’ work has been presented at November Music (Den Bosch, the Netherlands), De Nijverheid (Utrecht, the Netherlands), Eau Mont Jardin festival (Omont, France), among others.
